In January 2021, the Windows93 parody site's Myspace93 sub-site was breached via an exploited beta application, exposing data from approximately 46,000 accounts.
According to Have I Been Pwned, in January 2021 the Myspace93 sub-site of the parody site Windows93 suffered a data breach. A beta application was exploited, allowing an attacker to download server files. The compromised data was later leaked publicly in June 2021.
HIBP reports that the breach exposed email addresses, IP addresses, usernames, and passwords. Notably, the passwords were stored in plain text rather than being hashed or encrypted, making them immediately usable by anyone who obtained the data.
Approximately 46,105 Myspace93 accounts were affected, according to HIBP. These are users who had registered on the Myspace93 sub-site of Windows93.
If you had an account on Myspace93, change your password there immediately. Because passwords were stored in plain text, you should also change the password on any other site where you used the same credentials. Consider using a password manager to maintain unique passwords for each service, and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible.
